Session 26 - The Heart of the Machine
The party spends a small amount of time discussing their options before Qumnferneffle asks the wizard to give them a tour of the facility, attempting to deceive the wizard into thinking the party is in Solomir's employ. A convincing lie later and short stumble of words later, the party is on their way behind the wizard to one of the magical doors in the fortress.
After making sure to observe the geas the wizard uses to open the door, they find themselves in a massive chamber made of clockwork and brass, dense clockwork machinations forming walls and a roof over them about 50 feet from the platform on which they currently stood. The wizard explains that this is a realm where Solomir struck a deal with Primus the ruler of mechanus to manufacture golems for protection within his strongholds.
The clockwork assembly line whirrs around them assembling golems nonstop at impressive speeds, the golems are then dropped into a receptacle leading inside of more machinery. The party asks if he knows where all of these golems are going, but the wizard did not. Shortly after, the party turns around to find the wizard gone.
Assessing their surroundings they find themselves on a stonework platform with a teleportation circle/altar in the middle. The party asks Qumnferneffle to perform the geas and see if it takes them anywhere.
A brilliant flash of light later - the party finds themselves in a 10 foot wide hallway that runs in a circle, with two other 10 foot wide hallways that run parallel and join on either side that goes on in both directions. The party seems perplexed as they continue to find themselves in a new hallway every time they go around the circle. After wandering around for what seemed like hours, the party finds themselves in front of another magical door.
Passing through the door with Qumnferneffle performing the geas, the party finds themselves in a large cube-shaped room. The floor in this room is smooth stone as is the walls and ceiling, looking more like a vault than any sort of study. Floating at the center of this room is large diamond-shaped clockwork object that is beaming with brilliant light from an unseen source deep inside. Along the sides of this floating objects are metallic platforms, with stairs that lead up to access the platforms.
The party continues towards the stairs to begin their climb to the first platform.
